Anurdhapura

                        Anuradapure 
 
The scared city was established around a cutting from "tree of enlightenment " the buddas fig tree, brought three in the 3rd century, B, C by sangamiththa, the founder of an order of buddihist runs. 

Anuradapure  is where ancient civilization began in sri lanka nd is the hub for buddihism. it is important to for religion, history and the culture and world famous for its well preserved ruins of the great sri lanka civilization.

            The city now a UNESCO heritage site, lies 205 Km north of the current capital Colombo in ghe north ventral provlnce of  Sri Lanka. 
            The scared city of anuradapure was inscribed  as cultural world heritage site by UNESCO in 1982  in anuradapure ,there are 8 card places of venration know as the atamasthana "lord budda during his 3 visit to Sri Lanka is know to havited these places.

The Thuparamaya is oldest deated stupa on the island. it was built by king dewanmpiyetissa. 

         Anuradapure bo tree is sri lanka's 2nd most important buddihist pilgrimaye site, this bo tree was grown from a saping from the original bodhi tree in buddagaya. where buddha had attained enlightenment, Ruwanweliseya is second largest stupa in sri lanka & jethewanaramya in frest largest stupa in sri lanka. miresawatiya, lowamahapaya, Ruwanweliseya were built by king dutugemunu & abahayagiriya anuradapure 's  tree main ancient irrigation lakes are tisa wewa hurulu wewa in the north hourished it's agriculture. A visit to the archaeological mesum in the anuradapure will provide a good understanding of the city 's monuments & other significance.
